DishaPrayan is an independent information and discovery service for the global Indian community. It brings together immigration developments, community reporting, Indian sport, entertainment, culture and events, while directing readers to the original publishers and organisers.

Editorial standards

Source selection

We prioritise official government websites for immigration and regulatory information, established news organisations for reporting, recognised sports providers for scores, and identifiable organisers or ticketing platforms for events.

Summaries and ranking

Headlines, excerpts and concise briefs help readers assess relevance. Original-source links are retained. Recency, relevance to Indians abroad, source reliability and geographic usefulness influence selection and ordering. Placement does not constitute endorsement.

Automation and review

Automated systems may assist with discovery, classification, de-duplication and summarisation. They can make mistakes. Readers should use the linked original source for full context, and DishaPrayan may remove or revise items that do not meet these standards.

How immigration information is handled

Status, effective-date and deadline fields on immigration, policy, education, tax, financial and employment items are drawn directly from the wording of the linked source — never inferred or estimated. If a field cannot be determined from the source text, it is left blank rather than guessed. Official government sources are labelled and prioritised over other reporting on the same development.

Real-time legal certainty — status labels reflect the source as last checked, not the present legal position at the moment you read them.

Reading our labels

Two short pills can appear on an item: where the information comes from, and — for policy, immigration, education, tax, financial and employment items — its current regulatory state. Neither is a DishaPrayan endorsement.

Source labels

Official source: A government authority or official institution (e.g. a university admissions office) that issued the information directly.
Original reporting: DishaPrayan's own interview- or archive-based reporting.
Established news: A recognised news publisher, cited and linked.
Community source: A community organiser, association or event listing.
Other source: A publisher we could not classify as official, established or community — read with extra care and check the linked original.

Status labels

Proposed: A change has been put forward but is not law or policy yet.
Under review: Open for public comment or formal consultation.
Final: Finalised and published, but its effective date has not arrived yet.
Effective: Currently in force.
Delayed: Implementation has been postponed from its original date.
Blocked: Halted by a court or authority action, as reported by the source.
Challenged: Subject to an active legal challenge, as reported by the source.
Expired: No longer in force.

A status label is shown only when the linked source states it explicitly. We do not infer legal status from a headline.

Corrections

Accuracy concerns are reviewed promptly. Email admin@dishaprayan.com with the page or article link, the issue you found and a supporting source where possible. Every item also carries its own discreet "Report an issue" link for the same purpose.

Material corrections may be noted on the affected item. Broken links, expired events and changed official guidance may be updated or removed.

Privacy

You can browse the public service without creating an account. Standard technical information may be processed by the hosting and security provider to deliver the site, prevent abuse and understand aggregate traffic. DishaPrayan does not ask for sensitive personal information through the news search.

If analytics, newsletters, advertising or user accounts are introduced, this notice will need updating before those features are enabled. Email correspondence is used to respond to the request and maintain necessary records.
